Needing a Reminder

So last week I went shopping with Nathan. My last stop was Babies-r-us for a baby gift and undershirts for Nathan. When I got to the store he was asleep, so I brought 2 blankets in to the store with me. (It was cold). Well, Nathan woke up not long after we were in the store, and wanted to get down. I didn't realize that I let him take his 'blankie.' ... Now, this blanket is the one that he has to sleep with every night. As soon as he has his binki and blanket, he will usually go straight down. We have lost this blanket once already, and I had to go buy another one. I could only find it at Target that came with at stuffed animal. It was $20! That is an expensive replacement. So anyway, we were in the store, and when we went to leave, there was no blanket. So I took Nathan and looked over the store about 5 times. The store isn't that big, so I couldn't imagine where it would be. And mostly I was mad at myself for losing, yet again, another blanket. I lose things all the time, and I was so frustrated. I was ready to scream... literally. So after a while, I gave the clerk my phone # in case they found the blanket and we went to the car (after looking around the car and the parking lot). I couldn't imagine where it would be unless some other child had picked it up and walked out with it. We got in the car and I was near tears (not because of the blanket, but because I had lost it again...). I decided that this could be a good teaching moment for Nathan, even though I knew he wouldn't totally understand. So I told him to fold his arms, and I said a prayer out loud that we would find his blanket. Then I started the journey home. But... before I got out of the parking lot my phone rang. I answered and of course, it was a clerk at babies-r-us. They had found the blanket. I was so grateful. I turned around and went back. We said another thankful prayer, and I realized that this was probably for me. Even though it was a dumb thing, and shouldn't have mattered, it really got to me. I was frustrated that I keep losing things and can't be responsible. Maybe... I need to stop being frustrated and just pray... even over the things that I think are little. The Lord doesn't care if it is big or small, I think he is glad that we come to him for help. And sometimes a prayer in your heart is not good enough, because I was praying inside the whole time we were looking for the blanket. Maybe I will be a little more responsible, have a little more faith, and be more prayerful over my daily trials.
