This is my Mom with Nathan the day after he was born.
There are countless reasons why I love my Mom. I know it's tecnically a day late, but we should be able to brag about our Mothers everyday.
1. She is my best friend! - I talk to my Mom almost everyday. I always want to spend time at her house, go shopping, go to lunch, watch her play with Nathan, or just be with her.
2. I can talk to her about everything! - And I do. There was never anything that I couldn't tell my mother. And I never had to worry about her not being there for me. I know that if I made mistakes, I could go to her and was never afraid of her reaction. I talked to her pretty much everyday while I was at college and she heard every good and bad thing that ever happened! I think this was hard on her at times, but she never complained. I can talk to her about nothing for hours, and it feels like minutes. I feel like we connect on so many levels, not just the normal mother/daughter ones. I've always known I could talk to her or call her any time of day or night... and I have. My Dad would chastise me when I was at college for keeping my Mom up late at night, and sometimes I still call her early enough in the morning to wake her, but she never complains. She loves her kids so much!
3. She would give everything for her children! - And she probably has. She would sacrifice so much to make sure her children were happy. She will still do anything to make us happy, even for those of us who have left home and have our own families. Jon (lovingly) says she's a sucker, because she will pretty much do whatever we want. He would always give me a bad time because we would go over for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and she would always make me whatever I felt like eating. She still does this, and we watch her do this with Kayla too. We love that she loves us, and we feel it everyday.
4. She is the best example! - She is the best example to me of how to be a good mother. She was always so patient and loving while we were growing up. I'm sure there were times, but I don't ever remember her being really angry with me. She always loved being a mother and seemed to enjoy every single second. She seemed to always discipline with love. ... and somehow I felt like we were never really badly behaved kids. She always supported me in all my interests and loved having my friends over to our house. She always kept the house clean and brought the Spirit into her home. She always had a strong testimony of the gospel. I would often see her praying or reading her scriptures. I try to be like her, as I'm trying to become a better Mom. Jon tries to remind me not to always compare myself to her so I don't get down. :)
5. She loves Nathan! - She loves Nathan so much, and Nathan loves her right back. He is always asking for Grandma and loves it when he gets to go to her house to play. Nathan can be a little hard to take sometimes (I think harder than her kids), but she still loves him and shows me how to be patient and loving when he is causing trouble. She is always helping me with him and showing me how to be a better Mom. I love that Grandma can spoil Nathan. He will go ask her for things before he asks me, because he knows that she will give it to him (most of the time). :)
There are lots of other reasons why I love my Mom, but it would take me all day to write everything. I know I am spoiled. I am so grateful that circumstances brought them to Utah so that we could be close. I thought (until recently) that school would take us far away, and I was really sad at the thought of not being close to my family. I know I am blessed to have them close and I am so grateful for it. I wish all of my siblings lived here so we could get together more often. I have a lot of work to do to get them here!
Thank-you Mom for always being there for me. I hope you never doubt how much I love and appreciate you. Thank-you for babying me and taking care of me when I don't feel well, or when I get overwhelmed with being a Mom. Thanks for staying home all those years while I was growing up so that I had a friend there when I came home from school. Thanks for all the warm cookies, the clean house, the soft music, and the spirit, that always made home such an enjoyable place to be. I love you so much and there isn't a better Mom out there!
