So many things to update on, but if I don't start with what has been on my mind then I will never get to it.
With the new year, I have a small list of things that I am trying to do this year.
Today at church, we had a great lesson, and among other things we talked about having a list or plan for the things we want to do or be. We talked about living in a way that exemplifies what you believe, which is sometimes hard to do.
1. More spiritual time. Last year was full of ups and downs... probably not big ones, but I struggled sometimes with the daily things and feeling happy, content and peaceful on a daily basis. I struggled with putting in the time every day to make sure I felt the spirit, so that is one of my biggest goals for 2012.
a. Read my scriptures every day of 2012! I need this spiritual time so much, and as I have started this, it has already been a huge blessing. I used to be so diligent and good at never missing a day reading, but life got crazy and I let it go too often. Not in 2012! (So far so good.) :)
2. Be healthy. Of course the standard New Years Resolution of lose weight and be more healthy. I have been much better at eating lots of fruit and vegetables every day, less snacking, less carbs and less calories. I'm also exercising more. I've been going to the gym more regularly, got my new workout room all set up, and ordered the new Zumba Dvd's. :) Yea! Happy Day! So far I've lost about 6 pounds. Not too bad.
3. Spend more quality time with my children. I need to focus on spending more quality time with my kids and giving them time every day where I am focused on them and not anything else. I am trying to say 'yes' more and be less selfish with my time. They are growing up too fast, and I don't want to miss one precious minute!

4. Clean house. Overall, I really think that I am a pretty clean person, but I realized that I wasn't always consistent. I would just pick up throughout the day, and by the time Jon got home we were lucky if it was still clean. I've been much better about making sure the kitchen is totally clean (not just the dishes) after every meal, and snack, etc... When Jon comes home I want everything totally clean. Clean kitchen, bedrooms, playroom, bathrooms, etc... This has worked out very well so far. It hasn't taken much time each day as long as I stay on top of everything. We were able to re-arrange the house a little, and this has helped more than I thought it would. I know this probably won't happen every single day, but I need this to stay a priority for me. It helps keep my children calm and better behaved, me less depressed, and Jon less stressed as he walks in the door. Honestly, it just feels more like the home I grew up in. :) Always clean, always a peaceful happy place.
I think this pretty much sums it up.
I have been a much happier person. I feel so much more organized and feel the spirit of peace that comes from putting the Lord and my time studying his gospel as a priority everyday. Of all my goals, that is the one I just can't mess up on. I think it makes all my other goals so much easier. I am a happier person and I feel so blessed!
Happy 2012!
